Review: Garnier Nutrioniste Eye Products

Garnier is mainly known for hair products. But they've branched out and started making face products. Now I'm not 100% sure when they started it but I've only just discovered it in the last few months. I have two products that I have been using from this and they're both for the eye area.

The first I got a couple months ago and that's the Garnier Nutrioniste Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream. Now I know I am only 22 but I think it's always good to prevent rather than treat. So far from using this product every night and morning (til I got the under eye circle stuff) it has actually worked. Even though I haven't really noticed any signs of aging in my eye area before I have noticed some changes. My eye area seems to be brighter, tighter and more lifted. So I'd say this works, definitely for prevention of early signs of aging. I put a small amount on my ring finger and apply it on my under eye, outer corner, and whatever is left on my lid.

The next product I got a couple weeks ago and that's the Garnier Nutrioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Roller. So far I love this as well. I definitely have some under eye circles and this seems to be helping some. I use this every morning after I wash and moisturize my face and before I apple my make-up. This has a tint to it that has yellow undertones to mask the purple in the dark circles. The actual color is darker than my skin tone (I'm very fair) but that doesn't matter since it's very sheer. It cover the circles pretty well but it's even better after I apply rest of my face makeup. If I wore my makeup alone they'd be more visible. When you apply it, it feels nice and cool. I roll in on from inner corner to outer corner then back again the lightly blend it into my skin with my ring finger. I'd recommend these as well.

I'd say these are definitely worth trying out especially for how inexpensive they are compared to other eye products. I think I paid around 12 ish dollars each, maybe a little more or a little less. Hope this helps someone. :)

Wet N Wild..... A good product?

Years ago it seemed like Wet N Wild was one of those "cheap" make up brands that didn't have the greatest quality. Now I don't know for sure what happened but it seems like they've changed their formula or something because lately everything I've tried is AMAZING. I'm especially loving their eyeshadow. I picked up a one of their six pan palette's in the color #248 Lust.

The colors on the left are matte and the ones of the left are kind of a simmer/satin they're all a little different.
Here are some swatches.

These are the shimmers/satins. The left white ish color is gorgeous, it has slight shimmer and its an off white kind of color. I use it for highlighting the eyebrow. The middle is a GORGEOUS shimmer dark silver metal kinda color (great description I know.) I use it for my crease when I'm doing a more dramatic look or in my lower lash line. But that's just what I personally use it for. The possibilities are endless. The right color is a really dark purple with dark pink shimmer flecks in it. It's a really pretty color but I'm a little disappointed with how light it is compared to how it looks in the pan. I've used it the same way as the silver color.

These are the matte colors. The left lightest color is a super light pinkish purple, it's awesome for basically anything you wanna do with it. I've used it for my highlight, my all over lid color, and in inner tear duct area. The middle color is a pretty matte plum color, it's great for the lid or even crease for a lighter look. The right side is a super dark purple matte color. I love this one, it's just as dark as in the pan and its perfect for the crease or along the lower (or upper) lash line.
So basically what I'm saying is yes, Wet N Wild is a Great product now. I totally recommend their eyeshadow (their other products as well but that will be saved for another post).

Review: More e.l.f. lip products

Today I have more lip products from e.l.f. cosmetics to review for you. I have a lip conditioner, 3 of the minty lip glosses, and a lip stain. The only one brand spanking new is the lip stain, the others I've had for maybe a few weeks already. First off the lip conditioner....

I got mine in the color nice & natural. I love everything about this product; it conditions, it has a nice color, and it has awesome packaging. The color of this one is more of a nude but not overbearing and somewhat sheer. It has a nice smell too. It also has an SPF of 15, which is great to protect those lips. I definitely recommend this stuff! I use it almost everyday, I put it one while I'm applying my face/eyes and by the time I get to my lips they feel nice and soft. It's only $3!!

Next I want to review the lip stain.

I got mine in the color birthday suit. It's a really pretty light baby pink although it looks bright in the tube it's actually very subtle. It's a convenient double sided tube with doe foot applicators. First you apply the stain (color side) then when that's dry you apply the gloss, or you could even go without gloss for a matte look. I love this product too, the color is perfect. I want to try some of the other colors as well now. :) I'd recommend this to anyone. It's only $3!!

Next I'll review the minty lip glosses. I have 3 of them because I love them so much.

Nashville

Miami

Seattle

The three colors I got were Nashville, Miami and Seattle. They are all great colors and they're all very sheer with hints of sparkle. The Seattle one especially has sparkle in it, which is probably why it's my favorite. Another thing I love about these is the fact that their minty, I LOVE anything with mint flavor or smell. These smell and taste amazing and if you breathe in they kinda make your breath taste minty for a min. They aren't sticky or messy or anything like that. These lip glosses are probably my favorite ones that e.l.f. makes. I'm definitely going to be buying more colors in the future. I would definitely recommend these. :) They're only $3 a piece!!

Well that's about it for my e.l.f. lip products. Check out my last blog entry for their lipsticks as well. I'll be posting more review on their stuff in the future, I have lots :).

Review: e.l.f. Lipstick

I've decided to do a review on a couple lipsticks that I've had for a little while now. I haven't been able to review it yet on here since I was in the middle of a move. The lipsticks I ordered were from eyeslipsface.com, which BTW I love. It's cheap and for the most part very good quality for the price. The first one I will review is the e.l.f. Essential Lipstick which is only $1 a tube!

The wear on this is only a couple hours which is fine for the price. I got this is the color Classy. It's a very pretty muted pink. It's really soft and pretty moisturizing for being somewhat matte. Anyways, this is a good color/lipstick for everyday wear or to pair with a more dramatic eye.

The next lipstick I ordered was from the e.l.f. mineral line which is $5 a tube which is still quite the steal! I think I ordered when everything from their mineral line was 60% off. They always seem to have amazing deals so check it out!

The packing is very high quality, it really blows me away that it's so cheap. The wear on it is a few hours and it feels really really nice on your lips. It's so soft and moisturizing. I got it in the color Natural Nymph, which is a really pale light nude color (good for fair skin tones like myself). Perfect for pairing with a smokey eye. I personally like to put a gloss over the top since it's a tad too nude for my liking but it's perfect alone as well.

Well those are the only two lipsticks I have from e.l.f. cosmetics, for now anyway, if I do pick up more of course I'll be doing a review on them. :) If I had to choose between the two I'd definitely go with the mineral lipstick line, they have other really great colors as well as this one.  I have quite a few things from their brand so I'll be doing more reviews here in the next few days probably. Thanks for reading!

FOTD: Bright Lips 8-3

I decided to do my first face of the day. I decided to do a neutral eye with some glitter and a cat eye (which I do almost always) with a super bright pink lip. Best part of this? I used ALL cheap (but AWESOME) products. :) Enjoy!!

I'm still trying to get the lighting right, sorry it's not perfect. Hopefully you get the idea!
Again not perfect, this lighting made it a lot warmer looking. At least you can see the glitter :)
WAY brighter in person. Stupid lighting!
 Products used:

Face:
  • Hard Candy Glamoflauge heavy duty Concealer in Light
  • Covergirl Clean Foundation in Oil Control in the shade #505 Ivory
  • Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Cream Light 4-5
 Cheeks:
  • e.l.f. mineral Glow in Bronzed for contouring
  • e.l.f. mineral cream blush in flirt. I used very little and blended it out with a brush
  • Physicians Formula Mineral wear in translucent glow. I used this as a highlight, I wanted to keep it really light with just a hint of shimmer and this is perfect for that
Lips:
  •  e.l.f. conditioning lip balm in nice & natural. I used this first thing so it would soak in by the time I was done with everything else.
  • wet 'n' wild lipstick in 511B, I believe this is their $.99 lipstick but it works great!
Eyes:

  • e.l.f. eyebrow kit in Ash
  • e.l.f. eyelid primer in sheer
  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in milk all over the lid & inner corner
  • e.l.f. 100 eyeshadow palette
    • crease (blended out)- lighter matte brown 2nd row from left 3rd up
    • crease (definition)- medium matte brown 2nd row from left 1st one up
    • outer 'V' - darker matte brown 5th row from right 4th up and mixed with previous medium brown
    • lid & inner corner - really light brown with a little shimmer 1st row from left 1st one up
    • Brow Highlight- soft shimmer off white color 1st row 2nd from top (i use this A LOT for h/l you can see I even hit pan, it's a great shade!)

  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in black bean for water line and tight line
  • Maybelline Ultra Liner waterproof in black. used on top lash line, little thicker and winged out
  • Victoria's secret Beauty Rush liquid glitter liner in platinumania, very thin line right up against the lash line and under the 'wing'
  • maybelline one by one volum' express mascara in blackest black after I curled my lashes
That's it! Super easy to do and fun to wear! I used it as a day look, you can use it for nights out too! (I tend to do things a little more dramatic at night.)  Hopefully sometime I can actually post a video on this as well. :)

Love and bright awesome pink lipstick, Julia

My hair color journey.....

Over the last couple years I've been what it seems like every color under the sun. I thought I'd share some of them with you and tell you which I've loved the most (and which ones I wasn't a fan of). So here's some pictures starting at the beginning of my journey til now. Now there were probably more colors in between but these were the pictures I had. Enjoy :)

Reddish brown on top and black on bottom (I liked this color on me)

Redder on top and black on bottom (still liked) This is the only picture I could find of this, I'm on my way to go boating on a lake :)

Totally black hair (this I liked alright but won't ever do again LOL)
Dark Reddish Violet (loved this color)
Dark Reddish violet with bright blond "peek-a-boos" (loved)
Same as above but I put bright purple over the blond (loved)
Fire engine red hair (this was my absolute favorite and loved hair color I've had, also the most complimented)
Warm brown hair with hot pink random pieces. I'm in the middle BTW, I'm with my friends Liz and Xunaxi. I did both of their hair along with mine :) (I enjoyed this for a while but it wasn't my thing)

Dark violet red hair. I'm here with my boyfriend, eating Twizzlers on our way to Phoenix (he moved there in April and I'm moving there in a few days!!) (i liked this color but it wasn't as fun since I did something similar before)
Light brownish dark blond, this color was not on purpose this is just one of the steps to getting me platinum (did NOT like this haha)

Same as above just a tad different, again a step in getting me platinum. (again did NOT like, I do like this photo though I edited real nicely)

What it looks like now, super duper blond but not quite where I want it haha. (LOVE this color though)

Hope you enjoyed :) Feel free to send pictures of YOUR hair journey or just some fun colors you may have had at one point, I'd love to see it :) email: retrohorrormakeup@gmail.com
